Josefina Gilardi (CL/ARG) is an artist and musician. Her practice starts from material sensitivity, both in sound and image - ranging from photography, writing, videos, sound work and music. She investigates memory, systems of interdependencies, fiction and porosity. Interested in creating worlds through speculative fiction, imagining what rests in the gaps that open with grief, phantoms, inner and outer structures. In her music she experiments with live electronics, using and processing instruments like synthesisers, the flute and guitar; crossed with spoken word and ambient sounds. She has participated in improvisational band Nancy Phantom, theatre/writing collective Pulp Apparatus and a voice-flute duo Jimena & Josefina; collaborations with which she performed live and improvisational sets, readings and a theatre play in several venues across the Netherlands and Buenos Aires. She has released music with F.T.C.N Ediciones and RE:VIVE studio from Beeld en Geluid Instituut. She holds a BA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and a Master of Music from the University of the Arts Utrecht. IG @jjjosefinag
